Note:  High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265, is a video compression standard which by comparison to its predecessor AVC (H.264) HEVC offers about double the data in the same bandwidth.  This allows broadcasters to put more channels onto a single carrier or to move up to higher resolutions, potentially including 8192×4320 (8K UHD) in the future.
